When I get my nails done I go to the salons run by Asians. The reasons being,- 1. probably 80% of salons in Utah are run by Asians. 2. If I were to go to a salon run by Americans the price usually ends up being 35$ rather than 25$.
Now, when I get my nails done it almost always goes like this:
Nail Person: Hewwo, What I do fo you today?
BreeAnn: Um, I just want to get my nails done..full set...white tip..
Nail Person: Okay, sign in and I be right wit you.
BreeAnn: -Signs in-
Why do they make you sign in anyway? Do they REALLY do anything with that information? But what gets to me is when they do this:
Nail Person: You want to do pink and white?
BreeAnn: How much more is that?
Nail Person: Oooh it verrry pretty. Very popular.
BreeAnn: Ok..how much was it again?
Nail Person: You want to see pictua?
BreeAnn:...sure...
-shows corny picture of nails-
Nail Person: See verry prettty. So you want Pink and White?
BreeAnn: How much more does it cost?
Nail Person: 10 dolla mor.
BreeAnn: That's ok I just want the white tips.
Immediately after that they seem to always start going off in Chinese to the other nail person all the way across the salon for the rest of my time their. What's uncomfortable is when they start laughing. Uncontrollably, at whatever it is she said.
Do I have something on my face? Are they making fun of me for getting the "nerdy" kind of nails? What's so freakin' hilarious!?
When I got my nails done last week, this is exactly what happened. Not cool if you ask me.
I think it would only be fair for me to get away with NOT tipping them when they do this.

Ugh That's annoying. Asians purchasing stuff in retail is also really annoying. Yuck! But I agree, NO Tips for that kind of customer service.
That is so funny! I don't get pedicure's very often but when I get lucky enough to get them done, it is the same way. They always try to sell you something else too. That is so lucky that you can still afford to get your nails done as a newly wed.

I sooo know what you're talking about! So annoying! Now that you are moving out here you can go to Ann, right on our street...no hidden fees, no crazy accents, no wondering if you're being talked about...oh and the best part...same price as the asain ladies!!!
There was an entire Seinfeld episode about this. You should watch it. I am sure you would be able to relate.
